Key Rules to Remember

Hit

Request another card from the dealer. Do this when your total is low and the dealer shows a strong upcard (7 through Ace). Never hit a hard 17 or higher.

Stand

Take no more cards and keep your current total. Stand on 17+ always. Stand on 12–16 when the dealer shows a weak card (2 through 6) — let the dealer bust.

Double Down

Double your original bet and receive exactly one more card. Best used on 10 or 11 when the dealer shows a weak upcard. This is how skilled players maximize value — don't skip it.

Split

When dealt two cards of the same value, split them into two separate hands. Always split Aces and 8s. Never split 5s (double instead) or 10s (you already have 20).

Insurance
